Introduction to Japanese drone certification

TELEC Certification

TELEC (Telecom Engineering Center) is the main registered certification body for compliance certification of wireless equipment in Japan. According to the requirements of Japan's Wireless Regulations, model approval (i.e. technical compliance certification) is required for designated wireless equipment, known as TELEC certification. Certification is mandatory, so Japanese customers also refer to TELEC certification as MIC certification. Any product with wireless functionality must obtain TELEC certification before it can be exported to Japan, such as products with Bluetooth, Wi Fi, 2G, 3G, 4G calling, GPS and other functions that require TELEC (MIC) certification.

Remote ID

Remote ID (remote identity recognition) is the "electronic license plate" of unmanned aerial vehicles. As the core mechanism of unmanned aerial vehicle traffic management systems, it broadcasts real-time data such as the identity, location, speed, altitude, and operator information of unmanned aerial vehicles to achieve airspace supervision and collaborative security. Its key functions include unique identification, real-time broadcasting, risk warning, accessible supervision, and airspace coordination.

According to official regulations in Japan, drones must support Remote ID (RID) or install RID modules on them, and ensure that they are imported before they can fly.
