Wireless Charging QI Certification

Wireless Charging Standard Certification Service

Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) was founded on December 17, 2008, as a cooperation organization composed of multiple independent companies. The goal is to create and promote the adoption of an international wireless charging standard Qi that is compatible with all rechargeable electronic devices.

As of October 2017, WPC has 289 members from various segmented markets in domestic and foreign industries, including Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, LG Electronics, Philips, Nokia, Sony, Velyko VLG, Wisepower, and other 289 brands that have been included in the WPC alliance.

Alliance Introduction

Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is a cooperation organization composed of multiple independent companies, governed by the Wireless Power Consortium Charter. WPC sets standards for wireless charging and manages a program to certify products that meet those standards.

The alliance is managed by a board of directors, with each member having one seat. The chairman of the board is Menno Treffers. Technical specifications are created by the specification working group, with meetings chaired by Scott Mollema. The marketing working group is responsible for communication with the outside world, chaired by Camille Tang.

Alliance Vision

Wireless creates a better life

We love freedom, like to walk and stop at will, and enjoy the feeling of being able to connect at any time without the need for wiring or constraints.

There are always many inconveniences with connectors and wiring

Eliminate the last wires! Since everything is wireless, why do phones and small appliances still need to be plugged in?

Connectors and wiring are optional

Transmission does not go through connectors, which is surprisingly simpler than short distance transmission. Long distance transmission still poses some challenges.

Wireless battery charging is very common

Short distance power transmission has been applied to various products, including toothbrushes, LED candles, remote controls, medical equipment, power tools, digital cameras, and telephones.

Compatible chargers are the trend

We all love wireless products, but we don't want incompatible charging docks to fill our desks and houses. We require chargers that are compatible with products from different companies, and even compatible with products that will be launched next year.

Wireless Charging QI Certification Standard

Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) will establish international standards for compatible wireless charging docks. Compatible products will be marked for identification. Phones, cameras, remote controls, and all mobile electronics with the mark will be compatible with all chargers marked, simple and obvious.

International Cooperation

The Wireless Charging Alliance is a collaborative organization between companies in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. We believe that mobile products worldwide need to be compatible.

The Wireless Charging Alliance is a collaborative organization between companies from different industries. We firmly believe that all portable electronic products - mobile phones, audio and video players, computer accessories, cameras, remote controls, toys, game consoles, medical and personal care devices - will be printed with symbols representing compatibility.

Open Alliance

Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) welcomes the application of all companies to become members. All companies can use the relevant standards and marks without discrimination. We believe that this standard will be widely adopted in all products and markets.

Technical Specifications

Wireless charging standards will have the same charging duration as existing wired charger technologies and will comply with the main provisions and emission standards of international radiation safety. The alliance will first set international standards for devices up to 5 watts and will subsequently develop international standards for high-power devices and equipment.

Technology

Short distance power transmission is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. Through this technology, power is transmitted only when the receiver is near the transmitter. The discovery of magnetic induction can be traced back more than a century, and it has been applied to various electronic devices due to its simplicity, efficiency, and safety.

Alliance Members

As of October 2017, the alliance has 289 member companies and is constantly increasing. It includes companies such as WLG, Atmel, Callpod, case-mate, Hon Hai Precision Industry, Continental Automotive, ConvenientPower, Chongqing China Display, Duracell, Yilanda Magnetic Products Co., Ltd., Energizer, Yike, Fulton Innovation, Hanrim Postech, Herbi, Hosiden, iGo, Jackson, Leggett & Platt, LG Electronics, Limin Technology, Lucid Cable, National Semiconductor, Nokia, Metrans, BASECOM, Olympus, Philips, Powerkiss, Zhenzhen Electronics, Rohm Semiconductor Group, RRC power solutions GmbH, Samsung Electronics, Sanyo, Saphire, SixEye Interactive Ltd., Shinko Electric Communications Co., ST-Ericsson, Texas Instruments, Dongguan Electronics, Verizon Wireless, Wisepower, and Xentris Wireless.

Wireless charging technology uses a unified industrial standard, and in the coming years, mobile phones, PMP/MP3 players, digital cameras, and portable computers can all use new low-power, high-compatible, and the same wireless charger. This charger is similar to a tray that can be plugged directly into the power source, and with the help of the "Qi" mark, phones from various brands of member companies can be charged simply by placing them on it.

QI Alliance Logo

The Wireless Charging Alliance logo is "Qi" - "Qi" means "Qi" in Chinese, representing "Qi" in Asian philosophy, which means "vital energy" - an intangible energy.

The design of the Qi logo is simple and eye-catching. The trend of most battery charging devices being smaller in size nowadays, even in small portable electronic devices and packaging, "Qi" is still evident. In the near future, the convenience of charging devices through the "Qi" method will quickly become an important consideration for consumers when purchasing new electronic products. If you see Qi charging stations scattered throughout offices, hotels, airports, and train stations, providing wireless charging services anytime, anywhere as part of infrastructure, don't be surprised - this is Qi, a modern way of life.

Wireless Charging QI Certification Precautions

  1. Enterprise must first become a member of WPC and pay membership fees to certify the listed products;
  2. Qi certification testing must be conducted in a laboratory authorized by WPC;
  3. Qi certification is a voluntary certification and not a requirement of local market regulations. Passing the Qi certification means that the product must also comply with the relevant regulatory requirements, such as CE, ROHS, REACH, FCC, etc.;
  4. Currently, the Qi certification standard has been updated. Please ensure that the module uses the scheme that meets the new standard requirements.
