CEC Energy Efficiency Testing Introduction

CEC stands for California Energy Commission, whose responsibility is to steer the energy market towards healthy competition. The California Appliance Efficiency Regul ation, implemented by the organization since 1976, is the only mandatory energy-saving regulation in the United States that can influence non-governmental consumption behavior and has played an important role in reducing energy consumption. This regulation stipulates that electrical products sold in California, USA must first comply with equipment energy efficiency regulations. The regulation specifies energy efficiency index requirements, measurement methods, and phased implementation plans for 58 types of electrical products. According to the regulations, electrical products must be tested by qualified laboratories in accordance with relevant US regulations or standards to prove compliance before they can be sold in California, USA.
CEC Certification Mark
CEC Testing Scope and Methods
Products in California, USA, need to be certified for CEC energy efficiency. The main products are home appliances, power supplies, and lighting fixtures (fluorescent lamps or energy-saving lamps). All 58 classes of electronic and electrical products need to be certified for CEC energy efficiency in California, USA. The regulation specifies energy efficiency requirements, measurement methods, and phased implementation plans. According to the regulation, electrical products must be tested by qualified laboratories in the United States in accordance with American relevant regulations or standards to prove that they meet the requirements before being sold in California.

Power CEC Certification Requirements
Switching Power Supply Performance Requirements
This energy bill has special requirements for the performance of switch mode power supplies, which have two levels, "III" and "IV", namely the third and fourth levels. It has relatively high requirements for the no-load power consumption and overall efficiency of switch mode power supplies:
Implement the power supply device in two stages:
The first phase will be implemented from July 1, 2007, with Level III requirements (applicable from July 1, 2007 to July 1, 2008):
Nameplate output; Minimum energy efficiency value
0~1W 0.49 * nameplate rated output
1~49W 0.09Ln nameplate rated output+0.49
≥49W 0.84
Maximum no-load power consumption
0~10W 0.5W
10~250W 0.75W
